May I extend our deepest sympathies on behalf of myself and my husband Daniel. Mr Bornais was always my favourite Geography teacher, 1978 - 1981. He was kind, he was real, and I personally liked the way he handled himself in his classroom, he treated us all equal and with respect. My favourite story, Pinky Phanuf was chewing a huge wad of bubble gum and he asked him to spit it out, but instead Pinky took the wad out of his mouth and stuck it under his chair, Mr Bornais laughed and so did the rest of us, but then he made him take it off of his chair and put it back in his mouth....we all sat in awe waiting for him to do it.....as he was just about to put the gum back in his mouth, (you could hear a pin drop)....Mr Bornais, said, hey, just kidding, come here and throw it out....we must have laughed for 3 weeks seeing the look on Pinky's face and watching him listen to his teacher....that was respect, Pinky would have done it.....Mr Bornais never abused us, but he did push it sometimes...lol. God Bless him, Thank you for sharing him with us, Peace be with you.

I remember one of his sayings "take your time and hurry up" and even after 20 plus years since high school, I still remember that and smile :). My deepest sympathies go out to the entire Bornais family during this difficult time. Sincerely, Tanya Deubel

Dear Jeanne and James and family
Like everyone else I truly enjoyed having Paul as a teacher at TDHS. There wasn't a day went by that he didn't greet you with that wonderful smile of his.
I also enjoyed having the opportunity to reminisce over many of those times during our visits at Hudson Manor when he was visiting your Dad.
He was a wonderful man and will be missed.

I am saddened to hear of Mr. B's passing. He was my favorite math teacher and although I struggled with the concepts, he made it fun enough to want to learn. I will never forget that even though things are hard you can still learn and progress by simply changing your perspective. Learning that lesson has helped me many times. Thank you Mr. B- that was "very cool" My condolences to his family and friends. Denise Ray (Anderson)

Mr. Bornais was my geography teacher for my four years at TDHS. The last year I dropped chemistry to get into his geography class. He made learning fun and related to kids better than any teacher I knew. Always a positive influence, he cared about all of us. A teacher like that is worth his weight in gold. Judging by the other tributes here, many others feel the exact same way.
The quote from the obituary sums him up perfectly to me - "Paul had such a positive outlook on life and a wonderful joie de vivre."
Deepest condolences to the family.

Our deepest sympathies from Ottawa to Pauline and all of the kids, grandkids and all of 'Pops' family and friends that loved him so much.
He was such a wonderful man with a beautiful light and positivity about him and such an 'awesome' smile that lit up his whole face.
I am so thankful for the time that I have had to get to know 'Pops' and will forever cherish all of the personal touches of wood working and furniture in our home.
I am so sorry that we are unable to be there with you during this difficult time, but please know that we have been thinking about you all every day.
I take comfort in seeing 'Pops' smile and beautiful blue eyes in Mila every day.
