Obituary of Richard Glenn Murchland
MURCHLAND, Richard Glenn,
With heavy hearts, we announce Richard’s passing on Monday, July 2, 2012 at Riverview Gardens, after a lengthy battle with the ravages of stroke. Beloved Sweetheart of Mary (Murphy), with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. Treasured Father of Winifred and Brian Burke, Eileen, Mary and Stephen Balsam, Gerald (1984), Henry and Jacqueline, and Emmett and Carol. “Epic” Grandpa to Peter, Brigid, Charles, and Joseph Burke; Gregory, Patrick and Elizabeth Balsam; Cassandra and Hayley Murchland; and Madeline Murchland. Predeceased by his parents Gerald and Eileen, and by an infant brother Carl. He will be dearly missed by his siblings Bernard and Joan, Charles and Mary Jo, Francis and Winifred (Murphy), Fr. Wilfrid csc, Marie and Edward Flanagan, Russell, John Paul, and Bernadette, as well as Henry and Margaret Murphy, and Marion (John 1999) Murphy, and all of their families. Richard was a popular English teacher and Department Head at Tilbury District High School for generations of local students and was actively involved on many committees that improved the schools, community and Parish. Cremation has taken place as per Richard’s wishes. Memorial visitation at Reaume Funeral Home, 6 Canal St. W., Tilbury on Wednesday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and at St. Francis Xavier Church, Tilbury on Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Memorial Mass to commence at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Wilfrid Murchland officiating. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation appreciated.
