Bernice was a very big part of the Leo and Bertha Rivard family for over 63 years. It was a tradition that the family reunion be held at Ron & Bernice’s home on the lake and she was always welcoming and ready for lots of company. Memories of Father’s Day gatherings at Aunt Bernice and Uncle Ron’s house are so vivid in my mind. Cars parked up and down the driveway and along the shoulder of the road, the tire swing, horseshoes and the ladder toss game on the lawn, swimming in the lake, playing on the rocks, bbq hot dogs and hamburgers, corn on the cob, the best baked beans in the crockpot, cards in the garage while enjoying the panoramic views of the lake from her picture window installed in the garage, golf on the TV in the family room, hugs, laughs, cousins! Aunt Bernice welcomed us with open arms and was always eager to hear about what was going on in our lives! Her home was open to anyone who arrived to simply say “Hi “ or if they needed a place to stay… everyone was welcome! The bar was always stocked, beer fridge full, cigarettes and ash trays on every table. Aunt Bernice was pure comfort, kindness, smiles and love!! She is a legend!! I loved her. We will miss her!
