My Mom
As a child I'd often wonder - for I did not understand
That the hand that rocked the cradle also firmly held my hand
To guide me on life's journey by example and with love
But now I comprehend it and I thank the Lord above
For my MOM
Younger sister to her siblings
Favouite aunt to some
Caring daughter to her own Mom
To my Dad - she was the ONE
To her children she was Mommy - for her daughter and four sons
Loving Grandma to ten grandkids and she's proud of everyone.
She's my MOM
She's intellectual and caring
Enjoys reading a good book
And if you're misbehaving - she can stop you with THAT LOOK
She is not much for singing but she'd sing those nursery rhymes
The grandkids always loved them
And they'd stop their tired cries
She's my MOM
Now sometimes she doesn't know me
And she has a vacant look
Speaking isn't easy and she cannot read a book
She reaches up to heaven and she whispers soft and low
Is she talking to the angels?
I guess I'll never know.
She's my MOM
And now that she is older
Her life's journey's near the end
That hand that rocked the cradle I now hold gently in my hand
I tell her that I love and I pray for her each day
That God will hold her gently as He guides her on her way.
She's my MOM.
