Our deepest sympathies for your loss. I'm sure the general consensus from the community is one of profound sadness, as we are all feeling your pain of losing Mark. Joe's Shell is not only a Garage and Gas business, but a special place where we watched Mark, Roger and Larry grow up and become men at the garage. They are pillars of our community, and now we see some of the next generation following in their footsteps. Mark has always been a good friend, and trusted mechanic. He will be missed forever.

With a heavy heart I wish our condolences to Roger, Larry, Ruth and families upon this tragic loss. Mark was a special person who would never say no to helping anyone. I will remember the last time I saw him. I was there to buy some gas cards for the people helping out with Craig while we were gone. I came out and getting in my car Mark had come out from the shop to help at the pump. As I was getting in my car we looked at each other eye to eye and nodded....his look was so intentional that it struck me. He was such a pleasant person to work with. I am so sorry that we cannot be there in person and please know that Marg, Craig and I will be thinking of all of you. He will be missed by many for sure.... so sorry.

The small town mechanic is a vital cog in any community. They take us back to simpler times when neighbours helped neighbours. I am sure the sight of Mark driving up in his truck brought relief many a time to those who had blown a tire, ran out of gas or had some other mishap. I am also sure many a time he gave that discount or said it's on me for those who couldn't pay. Because generosity and giving of one's self is what a small town mechanic does. And it is very warming to the heart to know that Mark passed on his skills and passion to his sons. Because that's what a husband and father does. To Debbie, Bryce and Brayden, I hope the many happy memories you created with Mark over the years will sustain you always but especially now in this time of extreme sorrow. To all of Mark's extended family and friends, I hope the same. "What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal." Albert Pike
