Dear Joyce, and rest of family: We were so hoping to come today, but it's so far and we were worried about the roads, so with a heavy heart we decided not to come. I know how much Shirley meant to you and how hard today and the weeks ahead will be. I hope you know that we are feeling your grief and even though we can't be there to help share this burden, our thoughts and prayers are with you. I am so thankful to have met you and Shirl and I want you to know that because of you two, I and my family walk with the Lord too. You both were an inspiration to me when we first met and worked together, what good memories I have of those days. I thank you so much for inviting Ed and I to lunch last fall so we could visit and catch up, I'll cherish that last time with Shirl in my heart forever. Please give Ray a big hug for me and tell him we'll be praying for him too. Love to all Hazel and Ed.

To my beautiful Auntie, my memories are full of lots of love and laughter. Sharing our weekends up north with all my special cousins brings a smile to my face daily. You were a wonderful cook and you were always in the kitchen making sure there was enough food for everyone. You were always a hard worker and dedicated to everything you did. Your in God's precious hands now, where you'll be treasured and taken care of. You will be greatly missed by us all. You were a beautiful lady full of life, love and laughter. You've had so many accomplishments in your life that were all so proud of you. Rest in Peace Auntie. You'll never be forgotten. Love forever, Sherry.

To Shirley's children: Here's a little poem that is fitting I think: You may have tangible wealth untold. Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold. But richer than I you will never be, For I had a mother who prayed for me. I hope you all know that your mother loved you and prayed daily for you all. You can have the assurance that she is now resting safely with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Your mother and Aunt Joyce were the first people I ever met that actually lived their faith and it's mainly because of them that I too have that same assurance. We would really like to come to your mom's funeral, we've been googling how far it is, it looks like it is about 6 hours one way. We have a farm with animals and a dog (that lays claim to be a house dog), but is really a cattle dog and wood heat. So it seems doubtful we will make it, so if we don't, please know our hearts are breaking for your loss and our thoughts and prayers will be with you tomorrow and the weeks ahead. Love to all Hazel (Phinney) & Ed Rowley

We are so sorry to hear that Shirley has passed away. It's not everyday that you have the chance to meet someone as special as she was. Not only was she an awesome nurse to our mom at RG ( Mary Davidson ) but she became a friend to our family as well. Shirley made the transition to the nursing home for my mom not only easier for her but for our family as well. We will never forget her gentle , caring spirit . Our sympathies to all of the family.

Ray, How saddened I was to read about Shirley's passing. She was such a wonderful nurse with Jim's mother while Vi was on the Fourth floor of Riverview Gardens. We always enjoyed our chats when we would go to visit. I will never forget her kind words and gestures when Jim passed away in September. We have lost a lovely lady...but we know she is in Heaven. You are in my prayers, Linda Henderson
