Each one has special memories of time with Grandma. She was Godmother to Judy MacDonald and David Gravit and so many others knew her as friend, neighbour, Aunt Mary Jean or “Grandma”. Mary Jean considered them all family. Mary Jean was born in Chicago 98 years ago, in 1917, and grew up in several Ontario communities where her father served as minister. Settling in Comber, she married Don and filled her life with raising their children and grandchildren, serving the church and community, and spent many of her days driving seniors to appointments or shopping and delivering meals to them. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, whose greatest passion was helping others. Mary Jean was a lifelong member of the Comber Good Luck Rebekah Lodge #297. Visitation at Paul Reaume Funeral Home, 5657 Comber Side Road, Comber, from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral service at the Funeral Home on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at McDowell Cemetery, Comber. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Sunparlor Home for their care. If you wish, donations may be made to Comber United Church, where she loved to sing in the choir, McDowell Cemetery, or the charity of your choice.
She taught us love and kindness and leaves us rich in memories.
