Obituary of Hugh Lamont
LAMONT (Jack), Hugh John
1930 – 2011
Jack passed away peacefully, where he chose to be, at home, with his family by his side, on February 22, 2011 in his 81st year. He left behind the love of his life, Audrey Jean (Ford) and their 57 year marriage. Loving father and best friend to John & Heather Lamont of Tillsonburg, Pam & Ken Golish of Windsor, Beth & Gerard Thibodeau of Tilbury, Jeff Lamont of Lighthouse Cove and Trish & Ken Bolohan of Tilbury. A very special grandfather to Sara Golish, Josh Thibodeau, Genna Thibodeau, Jessica Lamont, Aaron Golish, Jamie Lamont, Andrew Thibodeau, Nathan Golish, Kelsey Lamont and Papa Jack to Ian Bolohan. Brother to Bob & Joyce Lamont of Kemptville. Jack was born in Lambeth, but raised and a life-long resident of Tilbury. Jack ran the family business, Tilbury Creamery, as well as manager of Topnotch Grain. Jack worked until retirement as an inspector at Rockwell/Meritor. Jack believed in honesty, loyalty, integrity and a sense of humour; he believed a firm handshake was binding. All those who knew him would know he had these virtues. Jack had a lifelong pursuit of building and restoring wooden boats and canoes. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jack’s hunting took him to place like The Rushvale hunt Club, the Jackson Hunt Club at Bad river on the French, Horwood Lake, West Virginia and Tillsonburg. Most of his fishing was done for the past 35 years on beautiful Horwood Lake at the cottage he built and maintained as the family’s other home. Special thanks are extended to neighbours and friends such as John and Al who even though times were tough…kept on coming. We also, as a family, wish to thank C.C.A.C., Melissa, Madeline, Crystal and Sandra. As a family, we have witnessed what many other families have, of how the wretched disease of cancer can rob a healthy, strong, and vital individual of his life. It was Jack’s wish that he be cremated; there will be no public memorial service. Audrey and her family would appreciate expressions of sympathy and donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Wildlife Federation to be sent Reaume Funeral Home, Tilbury.
