Obituary of Donald Gaudreau

GAUDREAU, Donald Paul It is with great sadness the family announces the death of a dear brother, well-loved uncle, best friend and mentor who, after bringing joy and laughter into the lives of so many, passed away at The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County surrounded by family and many friends on Friday, February 18th, 2011 in his 73rd year. Born in Tilbury Ontario on May 27th, 1938, Don eventually moved to Windsor where he worked for Dominion Stores and later A&P as the produce manager. After his retirement, he volunteered at many Bingos where his already large circle of friends grew. Family and friends will remember his fun-loving nature, zest for life and incredible wit and humour. He enjoyed travel, Bingo, Lincoln Continentals and most of all, a good story and laughter with great friends. Predeceased by his parents Arthur (1994) and Alice Gaudreau (St. Denis) (2008) and his brother Leonard (1988), Don is survived by his surrogate daughter and his “everything” Jackie Rivard, his good friend Doug Kirby and siblings Bernice Marentette, Doris Rivard (Ray), Gerald Gaudreau (Gloria)(1987), Mary Ann Boulton (Dave)(2001), sister-in-law Pat Gaudreau-Loebach as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by the many good friends he cherished and who cherished him. Friends are invited to share fond memories and stories with family on Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011 from 2-5 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. at Reaume Funeral Home, 6 Canal St. W., Tilbury, Ontario. Visitation to continue on Thursday, February 24th from 10-11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church on 32 Canal Street West, Tilbury. A funerary Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery to follow.
