Obituary of Helen Mary Yurke

YURKE, Helen Mary (nee Ponic) 88 years, of Comber, peacefully on July 13, 2012. Beloved wife of the late John Yurke (2002). Loving mother of David of Comber, Dennis (Carmen) of Tilbury, Douglas of Sarnia, Daniel (Susan) of Comber, and Dee Ann of Comber. Treasured grandmother of Shannon (Paul) Hurst, Dustin, Nicholas, and Dylan, and great niece Kiana. Thrilled great grandmother of Everett and Angeles. Dearest sister of Mary Sova (Don 1999) and sister-in-law of Anne (Leo) Chmura of Burlington. Predeceased by parents Fred and Anna Ponic and older brother Fred (2003) (Ursula 2008) of Stoney Point. Loved by many nieces and nephews. Helen worked with John to establish Yurke Sales and Service Ltd. 60 years ago. Proud to have worked at and retire from the Comber Post Office, Helen loved playing baseball, gardening, and enjoying her grand kids. She delighted the children of Comber for 60 years with her chocolate Hallowe’en cookies. Sincere appreciation is extended to Dr. Ray Anderson, the staffs of Tilbury Manor, Chatham Emergency, Victoria Hospital, and Leamington Hospital for their kind, dedicated and respectful care. Visitation at Paul Reaume Funeral Home, Comber from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday. Funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Interment at McDowell Cemetery, Comber.
