Obituary of Alwilda Jean Renwick
Renwick, Alwilda Jean (nee Mellow)
91 years of Tilbury, passed peacefully on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Erie Shores Hospice,Leamington. Loving wife for 67 years of the late Robert Renwick (d. 2020). Beloved and loving mother of son Brian (Mary Ellen Carlyle) Renwick and daughter Beverlea Oag. Proud grandmother of Robbie & Jamie Rose Renwick, Daniel Oag and David (Meghan Clements) Oag. Alwilda is survived by her sister-in-law Lila McFadden and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Merton and Eva (Goslin) Mellow and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law – Harold & Wilda Renwick, Bill and Retta (Renwick) Lumley and Mark McFadden.
Alwilda worked for H. J. Heinz, Leamington and the Tilbury District High School through the 1950’s before starting her family. In 1965, she embarked on a career with the Township of Tilbury East that would last until she retired in the 1990’s.
Alwilda was actively involved in the Quinn Women’s Institute holding the position of secretary-treasurer for many years. Through the Institute, she attended many courses offered by the Ministry of Agriculture and provided leadership to members of the local group. She was a member of the Quinn United Church and the United Church Women.
Among her many talents, Alwilda was an avid sewer and crocheter taking up quilt-making in later years. Other crafts included ceramic painting, metal etching, leather work and paint-by-number.
Bob and Alwilda enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren – attending sporting events and dance shows or going on camping trips. They were proud of their achievements. After retiring, they travelled extensively with trips to the United Kingdom, Ireland, Europe, Australia, and various cruises.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Hudson Manor and the staff at the Erie Shores Hospice for the loving care they provided mom.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Reaume’s Funeral Home, 6 Canal St. W., Tilbury on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 and at St. Andrew's Church, Comber from 10:00 am to 10:45 am on February 7, 2024. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew’s United Church, Comber.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Windsor Regional Cancer Center, Erie Shores Hospice or St. Andrew’s United Church Comber.
