RIVEST, Guillaume “Gil” Albert Passed away peacefully on Monday, June 4, 2012 at the Sun Parlor Home, Leamington surrounded by his loving family. Gil was born on December 9, 1922. He was in his 90th year. Beloved husband of the late Cecile Bertha (Barrette) (January 17, 2012). He resided in Tilbury and was a farmer in Staples for over 50 years. Son of the late John Baptiste Rivest (1963) and Dolores (Marentette) Rivest (1979). Loving father of Roger (Lois) Rivest, Annette (Brian) Gagnier, Claudette Cowan (Al Vermeulen), Paul (Bonnie) Rivest, Giselle (Mike) Riberdy. Dearest pépé to Jason (Karen) Kimball, Jeff (Shannon) Rivest, Robert (Sarah) Kimball, Matthew Rivest, the late Douglas Rivest (June 22, 1997), Christopher Cowan (Stacey Meloche), Nathan (Julie) Rivest, Steven Rivest, Michelle Cowan (fiancé Scott Simpson), Candice (Jordan) Cottingham, Richard Riberdy, Melissa (Gord) Renwick, Kayla Riberdy (Dave Serednicki), and many step grandchildren. Special grandpépé to Taylor, Ava, Cohen, Edan, Kinsey, Warren, Crawford, and many step great grandchildren. Loving brother of the late Annella (late Aldege) Pillon, late Blanche Rivest, late Origene (late Dora) Rivest, late Raymond (surviving wife Jeannette) Rivest, late Bernadette (late Raymond) Schiller, late Marguerite (late Louis) Cazabon, late John Jr. “Jack” (late Thelma) Rivest, Alphonse “Mike” (late Heinrietta) Rivest, Catherine (late Rosaire) Bissonnette, Angela (late husbands Edward Bechard and Louis Chauvin), late Edward “Andy” (surviving wife Florence) Rivest. Also survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Gil was a life member of Tilbury Knights of Columbus Council 2356. Gil and his wife Cecile of over 62 years were married on October 29, 1949. His love of farming nurtured the close family ties that left behind a strong family legacy for us all. He also had a great love for the small village of Staples and its history. Visitation at Reaume Funeral Home, 6 Canal St. W., Tilbury Wednesday from 7-9 p.m., Thursday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. K of C prayers 8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral service from the funeral home Friday, June 8, 2012 at 10 a.m., then to St. Francis Xavier Church, Tilbury for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Eugene Roy officiating.
