William Sharp

Obituary of William Joseph Earl Sharp

SHARP, William “Bill” Joseph Earl of Chatham, Ontario passed away peacefully at 86 years of age on June 5, 2023 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

Bill was born on January 29, 1937 to Earl and Rosie Sharp in the small community of Valetta, Ontario.

He was a beloved husband of 60 years to Beverly (Setterington), loving father of Mike Sharp (Yvonne) and Alison (Pat) Morrison.  Proud grandpa of Alex Sharp (Sasha) and Anna and Lauren Morrison.

Bill was brother-in-law to Kennon and Carol Setterington (London) and was predeceased by his brother Don (Betty) Sharp (London), sister Isabelle (Don) Miller (Tucson) and brother-in law Jim Setterington (Chatham) and son Patrick (Chatham).

Bill “Sharpie” worked for Bell Canada in construction for 30 years and walked the many miles of South Western Ontario lining the roads with phone cable.  When his family was young, he made many memories in camping adventures with the Taylors, Fletchers and Brooks. He so enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing, and was a card shark, playing regularly with good friends! Bill was clever, full with knowledge and able to fix or build anything. A lover of game shows, country-westerns, vegetable gardening and good food! Bill was a doer, an all-around handyman, always ready to help a friend to “get it done!” He loved his 1966 Mustang, going for drives with Bev, and stopping for maple syrup or a piece of pie!

He will be remembered for all he planted and shared with his family and friends. He will be missed dearly.

Arrangements entrusted to Reaume Funeral Home, Tilbury. Cremation has taken place. A small family gathering will be held at Stewart Cemetery, Merlin, at a later date. Online condolences may be shared at www.reaumefh.com. Donations to a local charity of choice appreciated.
