Obituary of Glen Roy Waites

WAITES, Glen Roy

Surrounded by his loving family, Glen Roy Waites, passed away on April 20th, 2023, in his home, under the care of Windsor Essex Hospice, at the age of 88.  Glen was the beloved husband and partner to Marilyn (née Smith) for 66 years.  He was the cherished and ever-inspiring father to his five children: Tammy (Bob) Sealey, Kim (Scott) Sparks, David Waites, Todd (Connie) Waites and Jeffery (Lisa) Waites.  Glen was also the most loving and proud grandfather to (late) Nathan (2020), Megan, Shane, Emily, Trevor, Lindsay, Shailyn, Joel, Brandyn, Regan, Joshua, Hannah and Simon.

Glen was the son of the late Roy and Hazel Waites.  He is survived by his brother Robert (Ruth Ann) Waites and Gert Lajoie, the loving companion of his brother Earl.  Predeceased by brothers Clarence (Verna) Waites and Earl Waites and sister-in-law Marilyn.

In addition to his success as a farmer, he had many other achievements: President of ECFA, he was inducted into the Essex County Agricultural Hall of Fame in 2016, and he was the Clerk of Session and Trustee of Strangfield United Church.  Glen was respected and deeply loved by many and a role model to all.  He was funny, friendly and welcoming.  To Glen, there were no strangers, only friends he had not yet met.

Visitation at Reaume Funeral Home Inc., 6 Canal St. W., Tilbury from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2023.  Funeral Service at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment to follow at McDowell Cemetery, Comber.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Windsor/Essex Hospice and St. Andrew's United Church.
