Obituary of Maurice Joseph Cayer

Maurice Joseph Cayer, 86 years, of Tilbury "Chatham-Kent",

August 1, 1936- March 16, 2023

He went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Thursday evening, March 16, 2023. Loving and Dearly Loved Husband to Mary Marguerite (Garlick) for sixty-six years.  He was born on Saturday August 1, 1936 in St. Apollinaire, Cte Lotbiniere, the beloved son of the late Joseph Thom (1982)and Marie-Louise (née Côté) Cayer (1968) and son-in law to the late Reta & Bill Garlick. Loved brother of Ghislaine (Réal) Côté. Predeceased by brothers, Girard (Gemma), Jean-Paul, Fernand (Margaret), Armand, Jacques and sister Rolande (Raymond) Demers. Also Survived by In-laws’ Grace (Armand), Yvette (Jacques) Cayer, Betty (Paul) Salisbury, Ellen (Forest) Boggs, Helen (Murray) Bell, William (Ilene) Garlick, James (Elizabeth) Garlick and the late Elaine (late Pete) Scarappichia. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Dear Dad to Daniel, Robert, Sandra (Mark) Landefeld, Gramps to Shannon (Will) Stevens, Matthew Cayer, Erika (Derek) Cooper and Heidi Cayer. Great-Grampa “Bee” to Liam, Daniel, Brette, Brynn, Valerie, Jordan, Emily and Summer.

He worked in his younger years in logging camps in Val D’or, Quebec and Northern Ontario. He owned and operated Cayer Tree Service LTD. In the Toronto area for 36 years. He enjoyed swimming, bowling and was an avid golfer for many years.

Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial will be held at a later date. Interment at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Tilbury "Lakeshore".
