Obituary of Marcel Gustaaf Roelandt

ROELANDT, Marcel Gustaaf

90 years, of Jeannette's Creek, passed away peacefully, on April 16, 2021 with his wife by his side.  Predeceased by his parents Romain and Celeste (DeBuysscher) Roelandt of Belgium.  Kind and loving husband to Margaret (Verstraete) for 68 years.  Together they raised their children Susan (Paul) VanderPryt, Rick Roelandt, Shelley (Geoff) Miller, and Tracey (Cesare) DiCesare.  Loving Papa to Tammy (Mike), Jason (Kathryn), Laura, Jenny Beth, David, Michael (2020), Jessica, Elizabeth, Spencer and Christopher.  Special "Papa Moo" to eight great grandchildren.  Marcel farmed his entire life, initially with his parents, then with his son Rick.  Later in life Papa instilled that love to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Over the years Marcel was involved in many sports groups.  He enjoyed his time with the Valetta Angels ball club and Tilbury Minor Hockey.  He was also an avid hunter and enjoyed his piece of heaven in the Magnetawan area.  Marcel was active on county council serving as councillor, Deputy Reeve, and Reeve.  He became Warden of Kent County in 1992.Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private viewing and celebratory Mass will be held by the family. Interment at St. Peter's Cemetery, Tilbury East.  Many thanks to the nursing staff of V.O.N. and Tilbury Manor Long Term Care for thier dedication and loving care.  Donations can be made to Chatham-Kent Hospice or charity of choice.  Family would like you to remember Marcel for his great work ethics, generous smile and love of life.
